The Ministry of Housing published today, Friday, 28.4.23, tenders for the construction of 260 housing units in the settlements of Kiryat Arba (156 housing units), Adam (also known as Geva Binyamin, 60 housing units), and Ma’ale Efraim (44 housing units).
The tender for Kiryat Arba is located in the Givat Harsina neighborhood and is part of the Ministry of Housing’s target plan, which offers discounted apartments to young couples and eligible individuals from the Ministry of Housing. Givat Harsina is in the northern part of the Kiryat Arba settlement, adjacent to the city of Hebron.
Adam settlement is located adjacent to the Palestinian village of Jaba’ and just north of Hizma, which is surrounded and blocked by the separation wall on the western side and Adam from the northern side. Ma’ale Efraim settlement is situated east of Alon Rd. and the Palestinian town Duma, in the Jordan Valley.
Promoting construction deep within Palestinian territory undermines the chances of establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel and deepens the conflict. The current tenders join a previous tender published by the Ministry of Housing in March and government & cabinet decisions from February of this year to promote the construction of over 7,300 units in settlements and outposts throughout the West Bank and the legalization of 10 outposts.
