During the First Lebanon War (1982), the movement organized the largest demonstration ever held in Israel, when 400,000 people (out of a population of 5.5 million people) calling for a commission of inquiry to the events of the massacre in Sabra and Shatila. One of the recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry was to remove Ariel Sharon from his position as Minister of Defense.
