Did you know that in Hebron 800 settlers live in the heart of a town of 200,000 Palestinians? 1 settler on every 250 Palestinians. Hundreds of soldiers are based in the city in order to protect the extreme settlers who try to take over Palestinian homes.
This morning the Minister of Defense ordered the evacuation of settlers who took over two houses on the Shuhada Street in Hebron yesterday.
It is the government rather than settlers organizations who should be the one deciding on the establishment of new settlements. Even if the settlers purchased the houses – as many purchased have been proven as forged in the past – it is the entire Israeli public that will have to pay for the diplomatic and military consequences of expanding the settlement in Hebron.
