Following the government announcement on the promotion of 3,000 housing units in the settlements, this Wednesday (February 6th) the High Planning Committee of the Civil Administration will discuss plans for 1,200 housing units. Together with the tenders announced by Minister of Housing Yoav Galant, 3,286 units will be promoted. Currently an unusually high number of 5,808 housing units are being promoted through tenders and plans (1200+2089+2519 from the previous announcement).
Noticed that a discussion for validation of the plan of 98 housing units in Shvut Rachel B – the new settlement promoted as a compensation for the Amona Settlers – is on the committee’s agenda, though it might be postponed for technical reasons.
Out of the 1,200 housing units, 55% of the plans to be discussed are located west of the separation barrier, and 73% are located west of the Geneva Initiative suggested border.
