Next week, on August 7, 2023, the Jerusalem District Planning and Construction Committee will convene to deliberate on significant development proposals beyond the Green Line in Jerusalem. The upcoming discussions include plans for the promotion of 100 housing units along with two hotels in the Nof Zion settlement situated in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood, alongside the construction of 1,918 housing units in the Ramot Alon neighborhood, located in the northern part of Jerusalem.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Nof Zion Settlement:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Plan for the construction of hotels and housing units in the Nof Zion settlement in East Jerusalem (Plan 101-0976597).<\/span><\/p>\n

The planned discussion has been rescheduled from May to August. The discussion for deposit in the Jerusalem District Planning and Construction Committee will focus on the construction of two hotels (a total of 550 rooms) and 100 housing units. The plan is initiated by KILAS INVESTMENT CORPORATION, registered in Panama. The area is located on the northern-eastern slopes of the Armon HaNatziv Promenade, within the neighborhood of Jabel Mukaber. <\/span>The designated construction area is called Nof Zahav and is adjacent to the Nof Zion settlement of the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood and serves as its extension.<\/span><\/a> The plan will create a sequence of built-up areas from the Harmon Hanatziv Promenade to the Nof Zion settlement. The designated area for construction is beyond the green line, in the no man’s land, and partly beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years, settler organizations have invested many efforts to Judaize the area between the Armon HaNatziv Promenade and the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood on one side, and the Abu Tur neighborhood on the northern side. The proposed plan merges with <\/span>the tourist attractions<\/span><\/a> promoted by the Elad Association and expands the settlement area from 176 housing units to 276 housing units and 550 hotel rooms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Residential Complexes in Ramat Alon:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, there will be a discussion for the deposit of two residential plans in the neighborhood of Ramat Alon. The plans are located at the edge of the Ramat Alon neighborhood and expand its built-up area. The plans border Highway 50 from the east and northeast and the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Hanina from the north. One plan promotes the establishment of a residential complex of 600 housing units in North Ramat Alon (Plan 0921239), and the other plan proposes the establishment of a residential complex of 1,318 housing units (Plan 0921353).
