{"id":16648,"date":"2011-02-07T20:40:11","date_gmt":"2011-02-07T17:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/?p=16648"},"modified":"2016-02-02T20:43:02","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T17:43:02","slug":"peace-now-calls-for-investigation-into-incitement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/peace-now-calls-for-investigation-into-incitement","title":{"rendered":"Peace Now Calls For Investigation into Incitement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>February 7, 2011 | The Rabbinical establishment are attempting to hide behind the freedom of expression.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Police on Monday issued an arrest warrant for Hebron Settlement Chief Rabbi over the rabbi&#8217;s refusal to be questioned in relation to the forward he wrote for the book <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ynetnews.com\/articles\/0,7340,L-3925115,00.html\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;The King&#8217;s Torah&#8221;<\/a> which calls for the murder of non-Jews.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Many in the rabbinical establishment have come out in support of Rabbi Lior, claiming that an investigation is an infringement on the democratic freedom of expression.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Peace Now supports all democratic freedoms; however Israeli law clearly states that the freedom of expression is limited in two instances:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1. Calling for the murder of a specific person or group of people.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">2.\u00a0Using speech to incite to racism (i.e. calling upon people not hire Arabs etc).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In this case Peace Now feels that the law has clearly been broken, and the Rabbinical establishment are attempting to hide behind the freedom of expression.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We believe that the more moderate Rabbi\u2019s in Israel must stand up and condemn these racist and dangerous expressions, and the police must begin to investigate these instances.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Israel must not be allowed to deteriorate into a place of racism and darkness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February 7, 2011 | The Rabbinical establishment are attempting to hide behind the freedom of expression.
