{"id":16151,"date":"2011-04-04T23:00:26","date_gmt":"2011-04-04T20:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/?p=16151"},"modified":"2016-05-13T14:50:52","modified_gmt":"2016-05-13T11:50:52","slug":"barak-to-settlers-build-illegally-ill-authorize-it-eventually","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/barak-to-settlers-build-illegally-ill-authorize-it-eventually","title":{"rendered":"Barak to settlers: Build Illegally \u2013 I\u2019ll Authorize it Eventually"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">The Construction reported into today\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.haaretz.com\/news\/national\/barak-to-approve-development-plans-for-4-west-bank-settlements-1.353971\" target=\"_blank\">Israeli media<\/a> refers to four settlements (Rotem, Eshkolot-Sansana, Halamish-Neve Zuf and Kiryat Netafim) in which construction was already taking place and\/or completed without any relevant permits or authorization.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Today Defense Minister Barak authorized retroactively these construction sites by publishing development plans for each and every one.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Two of these settlements were ordered by the court to halt construction (<a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/halamish-petition\/\">Halamish<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/en\/kiryat-netafim-petition\/\">Kiryat Netafim<\/a>), after Peace Now appealed the courts with evidence of absence of development plans.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We will now have to study these plans carefully to check whether they include only the already completed\/constructing units or also include a widening of each settlement with authorization for further growth and extension of settlement perimeters.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Once again the government is capitulating to settler pressure, ignoring international relations and Palestinian rights.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Barak\u2019s message to the settlers is clear &#8211; they can continue to construct illegally and sometime down the line, whether it be five or ten years later, eventually their construction will be authorized.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Construction reported into today\u2019s Israeli media refers to four settlements (Rotem, Eshkolot-Sansana, Halamish-Neve Zuf and Kiryat Netafim) in which construction was already taking place and\/or completed without any relevant permits or authorization.
