So many plans and approvals, <strong>some of which lethal for the two state solution<\/strong>, make it clear that the Government of Netanyahu decided to push forward as many approvals as possible in order to set facts on the ground before the elections in Israel, as long as they don\u2019t feel a \u201cthreat\u201d of any renewal of the peace process.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Following are the details of the recent developments in settlements:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">1. E1 and 3,000 new tenders<br \/>\n2. Plans for 6,600 units in East Jerusalem<br \/>\n3. Givat Hamatos<br \/>\n4. Tenders for 1,216 units the West Bank and East Jerusalem<br \/>\n5. Gevaot: a new city South-West of Bethlehem is approved.<br \/>\n6. A Palestinian family is threatened to be kicked out of their home in Sheikh Jarrah<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>1. <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/11-thousand-units-in-one-week-the-governments-settlement-offensive\/?lang=en\">E1 and 3,000 new tenders<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; Following the UN resolution on a Palestinian state, the Government of Netanyahu announced the intention to promote the planning in E1 and to issue <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/the-government-announced-3000-units-in-settlements-and-the-promotion-of-plans-in-e1\/?lang=en\">3,000 tenders<\/a> in settlements and in East Jerusalem. Using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/10\/fast-track-plans\/\">a fast track<\/a> of the planning process, the planning committee in Jerusalem approved plans in <a href=\"https:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2011\/10\/14\/givathamatos\/\">Givat Hamatos<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2010\/03\/09\/the-new-plan-for-1600-housing-units-in-ramat-shlomo\/\">Ramat Shlomo<\/a> and Gilo.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/unprecedented-planning-strike-on-east-jerusalem-6600-units-in-4-days\/?lang=en\">See more details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">3. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2011\/10\/14\/givathamatos\/\">Givat Hamatos<\/a><\/strong> \u2013 Givat Hamatos is a plan that if built, might prevent the territorial continuity between Bethlehem and the Palestinian neighborhood of Beit Zafafa in South Jerusalem, and thus might prevent the possibility for a two state solution with a Palestinian capital in East Jerusalem.<br \/>\nThe plan in Givat Hamatos is divided into 4 plans (A, B, C and D). The largest and the most lethal of them is <a href=\"https:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2011\/10\/14\/givathamatos\/\">Givat Hamatos A<\/a>, for 2,610 units, got the final approval from the local planning committee on Wednesday (the 19th of December). The Regional planning committee have <a href=\"http:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/18\/givathamatosrejectio\/\">surprisingly rejected today plan C<\/a>. However, unfortunately the rejection does not prevent the damage of the other plans. <a href=\"http:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/18\/givathamatosrejectio\/\">See more here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-13780 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Givat-Hamatos-ABC-Eng-330x255.jpg\" alt=\"Givat Hamatos ABC Eng\" width=\"330\" height=\"255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Givat-Hamatos-ABC-Eng-330x255.jpg 330w, https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Givat-Hamatos-ABC-Eng-161x124.jpg 161w, https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Givat-Hamatos-ABC-Eng.jpg 712w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">4. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/tenders-for-1216-units-in-settlements\/?lang=en\">Tenders for 1,216 units in settlements<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Yesterday, December 19th, the Ministry of Housing published the <a href=\"http:\/\/moch.gov.il\/Spokesman\/Pages\/DoverListItem.aspx?ListID=5b390c93-15b2-4841-87e3-abf31c1af63d&amp;WebId=fe384cf7-21cd-49eb-8bbb-71ed64f47de0&amp;ItemID=434\">list of upcoming tenders<\/a> that will be issued in the next few months, including 1,216 units in settlements and in East Jerusalem. <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/11-thousand-units-in-one-week-the-governments-settlement-offensive\/?lang=en\">These are part of the 3,000 units<\/a> announced by the Government following the UN bid and include: 398 units in Beitar Illit; 108 in Karnei Shomron; 167 in Efrat; 102 in Imanuel; 167 in Givat Ze\u2019ev; 106 in Adam (AKA Geva Binyamin); and 168 in Har Homa. Usually it takes a few months to a year from the issuing of the tender till the construction on the ground begins. <a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/tenders-for-1216-units-in-settlements\/?lang=en\">See maps and full details here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14258 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/TendersMapDec12B-330x233.jpg\" alt=\"TendersMapDec12B\" width=\"330\" height=\"233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/TendersMapDec12B-330x233.jpg 330w, https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/TendersMapDec12B-150x105.jpg 150w, https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/TendersMapDec12B-161x114.jpg 161w, https:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/TendersMapDec12B.jpg 1755w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 330px) 100vw, 330px\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">5. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/peacenow.org.il\/the-minister-of-defense-approves-a-new-city-south-west-of-bethlehem\/?lang=en\">Gevaot: a new city South-West of Bethlehem<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; The Minister of Defense <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jpost.com\/DiplomacyAndPolitics\/Article.aspx?id=296629\">approved<\/a> the promotion of a plan to build 523 units in a new settlement called Gevaot, South-West of Bethlehem. This is part of a larger plan to create a city of 6,000 units in an isolated area at the Gush Etzion settlement bloc. And in addition to all that, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/settlementwatcheastjerusalem.wordpress.com\/2012\/12\/12\/sheikhjarrahhouse\/\">a Palestinian family in Sheikh Jarrah<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is threatened to be kicked out of home in order to enable settlers to move in. The issue of settlements at the heart of Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem and specifically in Sheikh Jarrah became a central issue at the political agenda after in 2009 two Palestinian families were kicked out of home in Sheikh Jarrah and settlers moved in.
