The panel will include the following speakers who will take a variety of positions on potential solutions:
1. Professor Alan Johnson - A Senior Research Fellow at BICOM, a Senior Research Associate at the Foreign Policy Centre and an editorial board member of Dissent magazine. He was the editor of Global Politics After 9/11: The Democratiya Interviews, Foreign Policy Centre (2007).
2. Naomi Wimborne-Idrissi - A Jewish campaigner for Palestinian rights based in London. She recently helped found Jews for Boycotting Israeli Goods and is a cultural working group coordinator of the Boycott Israel Network.
3. Daniel Levy - Director of the Middle East and North Africa Programme at the European Council on Foreign Relations. He is also Co-Director of the Middle East Task Force at the New America Foundation and Senior Fellow at The Century Foundation. He was a member of the official Israeli delegation to the Taba negotiations with the Palestinians in January 2001 and served as the lead Israeli drafter of the Geneva Initiative
BFPN has always taken a strong position against boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) on the basis that it delegitimises the State of Israel, unfairly singles out Israel for the failure to secure peace, widens the gap between Israelis and Palestinians and punishes Israelis such as our colleagues in Peace Now who fight for peace and democracy in Israel. However, the campaign for BDS is a growing movement in the UK and we welcome the chance to have a sensible and open debate on the issue.
